A friend at Stanford in 1977 asked me what I was going to do after graduation. I said I was going to graduate school at UC Davis in Plant Pathology. She thought I said "Applied Mythology." For the next 30 years I've been working on agricultural technology. I've worked for universities, a large company, a small company and for the last 12 years for myself as an independent consultant. I've been privileged to have exposure to the full range of crops and technologies. I value most highly my interactions with the people who actually get our food grown. I find that most people know nothing about agriculture except for myths. I think I do need to become that "applied mythologist."
